Lion’s mane extract
Lion’s mane gets its name from its appearance resembling a lion’s mane. Food’s double-extracted Pika-Mane (Lion’s mane) is made by extracting both the water-soluble and fat-soluble components of the lion’s mane. Pika-Mane extract powder contains 30% polysaccharides.
Double-extracted Lion’s mane extract powder is made by boiling the water-soluble components of Lion’s Mane and extracting the alcohol-soluble components through alcohol extraction, resulting in a strong concentration.
Our Pika-Mane contains 30% polysaccharides. Double-extracted Lion’s Mane extract powder is made with a three-step hot water and alcohol extraction, which ensures the most concentrated final product possible.
The raw materials are carefully examined and purified before extraction in purified enzyme-enriched water to soften the cells for a good result. The raw material is first boiled three times to remove the water-soluble compounds from the mushroom as well as possible.
The concentrated “solution” is then placed in the first alcohol extraction at room temperature for 12 hours, during which some of the fat-soluble components are released into the liquid.
The alcohol extraction is done with a double extraction at 65-70°C, which allows the water to evaporate, but not the alcohol.
This allows the fat-soluble compounds to be removed from the mushrooms into the ready “solution” for drying.
The alcohol and hot water extracts are combined according to Foodin’s recipe.
