Iron Tablets and Capsules
Although most people get enough iron from a well-balanced diet, iron supplementation may be required to replenish iron stores in people with iron-deficiency anaemia.
Iron-deficiency anaemia is thought to be the most common type of anaemia. Premenopausal women are thought to be iron deficient.
Young children, adolescent girls, and premenopausal women, pregnant and postpartum women, and elderly patients are more likely to develop iron deficiency.
The most prevalent causes of iron deficiency include blood loss from haemorrhage and menstruation, as well as a poor diet and/or the body’s inability to absorb a necessary quantity of iron from food.
Strict vegans may be at risk of iron deficiency.
Several studies have proposed that compliance with oral iron therapy is depending on the formulation of oral iron.
Iron supplementation in capsule form rather than tablet form is thought to boost iron absorption while also reducing negative effects due to low interference from stomach secretions.
