Description
North Chaga mushroom (POHJOLAN PAKURI)
Chaga is a pathogen of hardwoods that grows mainly on both dead and living birches. In addition, Chaga is found in elm, beech, white beech, ash, and rowan.
Rarer host trees are the stripe and the gray and tar alder. In Finland, Chaga has been used for hundreds of years, e.g. as lighters, pin cushions, sources of dyes, and food.
During the war years in Finland, Chaga tea was generally known as “tikkate” or “pakkulate”, which, like chicory root and dandelion root, was used as a substitute for coffee.
Antioxidants and plant chemicals found in abundance in the Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) may have positive health effects.
Chaga is offered as a supplement and herbal tea.
Chaga mushroom consumption as part of a healthy, balanced diet may help lower “bad” cholesterol, reduce oxidative stress, and improve immunological function.
During the last decades, pakuri has made a comeback as part of Finnish kitchens and cooking, and for many, Chaga has become a new favorite drink for breakfast and afternoon classes.
This product is a convenient and effortless way to include Chaga in your own versatile and balanced diet, and it is possible to use it versatilely in the preparation of both drinks and food.
The grit size is around 2–3 mm.
THIS IS HOW YOU USE POHJOLA PAKURI
Add 1 tablespoon of bakuri grits to a liter of water and boil for at least 10 min. If you want, you can brew the baguette tea for up to several hours to achieve a stronger color and taste.
Drink 1-4 cups of ready-made tea a day or use the liquid as a base for your shakes – it’s usually easiest to consume larger amounts this way.
Use baguette tea to make coffee instead of water, or use the liquid to make soups or, for example, rice.
You can brew tea from the same grit as long as the dark color comes off.
You can also use baguette tea cold. Cool tea tastes good especially in summer.
If you want, you can prepare an alcohol extract from the sedum in a ratio of 1:2–1:5 and use the finished tincture 15–20 drops three times a day. Use 40-60% clear alcohol and leave to infuse for at least 2 weeks.
Formula
100% ground Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus).
Warnings
NOTE! Chaga should not be used simultaneously with antibiotics, penicillin and intravenous glucose. Chaga is not suitable for use as is (humans lack the ability to produce the chitinase enzyme, which is why our digestion does not digest the hard chitin cells of raw chaga).
