Physiological effects

Ubiquinol is the active form of ubiquinone and thus both of these substances are the same coenzyme Q10 in different forms. In our body, coenzyme Q10 occurs more than 90% as ubiquinol.

Ubiquinol consumed as a dietary supplement acts directly in the body without the need for enzyme activity to convert it into an active form. Thus, ubiquinol is easily absorbed and is immediately available to the cells as such.

Ubiquinol is a fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance and a key coenzyme in the formation of ATP, i.e. adenosine triphosphate, which takes place in the energy production centers of cells (mitochondria), directly affecting the energy production of cells.

The elderly should especially use ubiquinol, as the body’s ability to produce ubiquinone and convert it into the active form reduced ubiquinol decreases with age.

Selenium (Se) is an antioxidant and a key trace element in the enzyme function of cells, especially as part of the glutathione peroxidase enzyme that protects against oxidative stress.

Selenium also protects the body from the harmful effects of heavy metals by binding toxic heavy metals such as mercury, lead and cadmium.
Selenium promotes the normal functioning of the thyroid gland and the immune system, the normal formation of sperm, and the maintenance of normal hair and nails. Selenium in its organic form as selenomethionine is very well absorbed.
