- Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that exists in every living organism. It is a polysaccharide and its chemical structure is the same everywhere. In the human body, hyaluronic acid exists in e.g. tissues, eyes and joints. It is produced by our own skin cells and is found in high concentrations in young skin.
- During the ageing process skin cells lose their ability to produce optimal amounts of hyaluronic acid. The decline in hyaluronic acid is one of the main reasons for the decreased suppleness, reduced elasticity and loss of skin tone, and skin thinning experienced within ageing.
